It's not that people don't like to have a lot of colors and armor variants to choose from for their mounts (that's all part of your characters' customization and it's great), but when you need two separate reputations to buy an armored and unarmored version of the same brown boar, as if the first vendor (or the player) couldn't just take the armor off, and then you have two completely unrelated sources for two slightly less brown boars, then things start to become absurd. They are spread over more content than they're worth, such was the case of the now infamous Draenor boars. They come way too late, after the model starts to show its age and player excitement for it wanes (such as the new 100 Exalted reputation phoenix)Ĭ. They come from a highly anticipated achievement, disappointing the often unrealistically high expectations players had been building up for it.ī. The problem with recolors/reskins is when:Ī. There are plenty of them we were excited about when they were announced, and plenty more we would still like to see, especially the Icy and Ivory cloud serpents, which are both splendid and have very unique color schemes. People who like collecting will still collect.People actually like getting some re-skins, especially when they already exist in the game files but were never made available to players. the irony is they would of tried to collect it anyway, without the insanity added. Or they will need 1 more to get a meta and that will drive them bonkers.

For the most part, every one collecting mounts will just get free mounts because they already have them. We dont need more achs to give us more re-skins. What do you think? Would you like to see such thematic collecting achievements? Would you prefer them on the extremely challenging side, or leaning more towards fun and attainable? Feel free to make your own suggestions. It could require a set of Human/Undead horse mounts from racial vendors, Argent Tourney and Vicious Saddles, plus: Potentially, the 400 mounts achievement could be converted into a horse collecting achievement if it turns out too many people whine about it. Cobalt Primordial Direhorn (+ the other three) A saner version would see both of those excluded, which would make the achievement arguably easier than Awake the Drakes.Ĭollect the following aquatic and water-related mounts:Ĭollect the following bug mounts (you will need them as fodder): *Yes, this potentially includes both the Sha and the Nalak mounts, which would make it veritably insane, and a challenge even for people going on 450 mounts. Since Demon Hunters, unlike Warlocks, start at level 100, and an achievement about hunting demons is thematically appropriate, I feel this one should be included too.Ĭollect all the Cloud Serpent mounts available.* **Class mounts count toward the overall collection, even though they can't be used on other characters. *Assuming the drop rate will remain 1% for soloing, not 0.1%. I'm starting them off as super hard, but some of them could be taken down a notch to make them more accessible:

Here are a few examples of what I have in mind.

Wouldn't it be cool if there were more small scale achievements like " Awake the Drakes"? Independent challenges that don't really care what your total mount count is, but whether or not you have a full collection of a certain kind of mounts? They would be a great way to add a few older models to the game, an incentive for people who want to get into collecting, but are nowhere near 400 mounts, as well as potential challenges for even the most hardcore of collectors. We have the overarching meta that rewards us for every 50 mounts we add to our collection, and the frankly redundant FoSs for some of the older rare drops. I've been thinking lately that mount collecting achievements are rather limited.
